What has changed?
We have redesigned the training module, now you can create courses, assign multiple employees to training events, bulk upload training records, greater in-depth reporting among many other options.
What's the difference between Managed Training and Personal Training?
Managed Training is usually an external course setup and run by a professional body. Personal Training is your own personal development, quite often setup and run by professional bodies, but it can also include such things as attending a seminar or an internal training session.
If I don't like the new training module, can I have the old one back?
Unfortunately not - we can only support one training platform. The legacy training system has been phased out since the 31st March 2019.
What is the difference between a Course and an Event?
A course is the overall title for training, the event is the date that you attend the course.
Do I have to use the import spreadsheet to add training courses?
No, new training courses can be created by using the button labelled "Add Course" in
Management > Training > Training Courses.
Why can't I access "Training" anymore?
The new training module requires a Controller to specify who can access it. You will still be able to access "Legacy Training" (previously labelled "Training") as normal.
This guide walks you through how to assign the new "Training Manager" permission.
What are my migration options?
We recommend customers adopt our Full migration path, enabling you to take full advantage of the new platform. There is an alternative, to use the Basic migration. This will broadly replicate just the functionality of the legacy system.
What's the difference in the two options above?
The Full path gives you all the benefits of the new features, all courses and records are linked and reportable. There is a bit more initial work but, this will lead to much greater functionality.
The Basic path transfers your records to the new platform however, they will appear in the same way as they do now. They won't be linked and the reporting will be less in-depth, you will be unable to utilise the new features.
If I go with the Basic path, can I still use the new features?
You can use some of the new features, however, the reporting will not be as advanced and your records will not be linked in the same way as they would with the Full migration.
If I do the Basic migration, can I move to Full later on?
Yes, you can, however this will take far longer than the Full migration that we recommended.
After I've migrated my legacy records, do I need to go to Legacy Training and delete my old records?
No, the training migrator will automatically transfer your legacy records to the new training module.
If I migrate my legacy training records to the new module, what will happen to the reminders?
Training reminders can't be migrated to the new module. This is because reminders are now linked with Training Qualifications, which are sent 8 weeks and 4 weeks before the Training Qualification is due to expire. You can create training qualifications and define their length via
Setup & Admin > Training Qualifications.
Do I have to migrate my legacy training records?
You don't HAVE to but, we definitely encourage it. After a period of time, access to the "Legacy Training" area will be removed. You won't lose your legacy training records, but will need to migrate them to the new training module to see them. If you'd like help on migrating your legacy training records to the new training module, please contact us on 0345 225 0414 Option 2, or raise a support ticket here.
What will happen to the documents uploaded to my current training records?
When you migrate your legacy training records, the documents that are uploaded to them will be migrated too.
How long does it take to migrate?
The amount of time it takes to migrate your records depends on the number of training records you have. Once you have created your courses, the migration is straight forward.
